To fully fathom you must watch my 20-minute video below. In a nutshell in 2021 the Green Party secured 19,512 List votes in Central Scotland and secured one Regional MSP. All we need in 2026 is approximately 20,000 list votes for CENTRAL SCOTLAND PEOPLE to secure one MSP.

Let’s set aside party-political differences! Let’s come together! Let’s fix politics!

Welcome to Scotland’s newest political party, CENTRAL SCOTLAND PEOPLE. The sole purpose of the party is to directly and effectively represent first and foremost the interests of the people of Airdrie, Bellshill, Coatbridge, Cumbernauld, Chryston, East Kilbride, Falkirk, Hamilton, Kilsyth, Larkhall, Motherwell, Shotts, Stonehouse, Uddingston & Wishaw.

As the party is not yet registered with the Electoral Commission I am standing as an Independent, however I am bound by the constitution of the party. The key difference is:

ELECT ME AND YOU WILL BE MY BOSS

For every vote in Holyrood Parliament, I will take instructions on how I should vote directly from the majority of the members of CENTRAL SCOTLAND PEOPLE from within the Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse constituency. Whenever there is a vote, I will email all the members of the party and inform them how I would like to vote and why. It will be up to the members to get involved and vote and instruct me on how to vote.

It is free to join the party so everyone can get involved. For those who choose not to guide me on how to vote and choose not to join the party, they can have confidence knowing that how I vote on behalf of everyone in Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse will be guided by a team of local people who have decided to get involved and tell me what to do.

By-elections have a nationwide significance. It is important that as many people as possible vote, especially those who do not usually vote. We need to send a clear message to the Government and the established political parties that there is a huge consensus across Scotland that people do not feel that they are being properly represented. People feel that other interests have a greater influence over their representatives than those of the people.

CENTRAL SCOTLAND PEOPLE was officially founded on the 30^th of April 2025 as an unincorporated association by me, Marc Wilkinson, Morag Macrae and Mark Rowbotham. Respectively, we are Interim Party Leader, Interim Treasurer and Interim Secretary so that together with the people of Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehaven we could make a stand.

We want this election leaflet to inspire thousands of people from Central Scotland to come forward and sign our petition, subscribe to being informed by the party and to join the party. Especially, we need nine people to come forward as potential candidates to stand in the May 2026 Scottish Parliament Elections in the nine Central Scotland constituencies and we need twenty people to stand in the May 2027 South Lanarkshire Local Council elections.

As soon as possible CENTRAL SCOTLAND PEOPLE will have elections to elect a new party leader, treasurer and secretary and we can resign.

I would like to inspire you by telling you what we have achieved in Edinburgh.

On the 14^th of November 2024 I stood in the Edinburgh Council by-election in the Colinton/Fairmilehead ward to replace Scott Arthur who was elected MP in the July 2024 General Election. 4.4% of the voters gave me their 1^st or 2^nd preference vote. I worked very hard speaking to over 650 people on the doorstep and a total of 485 people gave me their 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd of 4^th preference votes. Unusually, there was a 2^nd by-election on the 23^rd of January 2025, and I was chosen by the members of EDINBURGH PEOPLE to stand again. Apart from being in the middle of an icy Winter, it was an almost heaven-sent opportunity for us to build within ten weeks within the same ward with the same electorate. So, I worked hard again.

This time 7.9% of the voters gave me their 1st or 2nd preference. This represented a +79% growth in the share of the 1st & 2nd preference votes within ten weeks in the same ward.

For the Holyrood election the party only needs to secure 6% of the votes on the regional list to secure one MSP. So, this target has already been smashed. I am hoping to persuade the members of the party to select me to be number one on the list at which point there is a distinct possibility I will be elected as one of the seven regional MSPs for the Lothian region.

Normally, with elections it is one person one vote so if someone has voted Labour all their life a new party would have to persuade them to stop voting Labour first which is hard.

Uniquely, for the Scottish Parliament elections everyone has two votes and elects up to two different MSPs. One is through the First Past the Post system. The second is on the list and is a bit of an aside. Most people just choose the same party or maybe the Greens. Because of this, people will be able to continue voting how they want for their constituency MSP, and it will be very easy for them to choose their local PEOPLE PARTY on the list.

We all know, politics is broken! We need change! Entire families who had given up voting came out just to vote for me in Edinburgh. If everyone who has given up on the main political parties and their compromised politicians turns out to vote for CENTRAL SCOTLAND PEOPLE on the list in the May 2026 then Airdrie, Bellshill, Coatbridge, Cumbernauld, Chryston, East Kilbride, Falkirk, Hamilton, Kilsyth, Larkhall, Motherwell, Shotts, Stonehouse, Uddingston & Wishaw can elect one MSP to Holyrood who will be bound by the constitution to actually represent their electorate. 14^th November By-election: 7401 valid votes. I secured 173 1^st preference votes and 156 2^nd preference votes. 329/7401 equals 4.4% as a share of the 1^st & 2^nd preference votes.
